Pocket Park and Mitigation Scheme

A section 106 based mitigation scheme followed as part of the planning application for a residential development that we were also working on. The mitigation proposals would enhance the adjacent riverside beyond its polluted and heavily littered state. The scheme was to incorporate the new development into the surrounding area via a pocket park which linked between new development and riverside walk. This was to provide a recreational and nature resource for the local people.

The proposals were carefully designed to meet the modest budget of £100k, to provide tangible aesthetic and social benefits whilst being ‘steet-wise’ and sturdy in terms of construction and planting, to suit an area seeing hard times. The last few photos show how poor landscape quality was and the the severity of the litter problem on the site.
